Terry Panteli Director English Language Courses
Terry Panteli, who is bilingual, has over 15 years experience teaching English as a Foreign Language and 9 years experience teaching Greek as a Foreign Language. He has taught in Thessaloniki Greece, and since 1996 at some of London’s most highly respected language schools, where he also contributed to teacher training courses.
From 2002 to 2009 he was permanently based at the prestigious School of Oriental and African Studies, SOAS as it is better known, (University of London) as a Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), but also worked on several Middlesex University summer schools.
He started teaching at one of north London’s largest community Greek schools in 2001, where he was Edexcel GCSE examiner for 4 years and was also selected as the first British born, second generation Cypriot to be Head teacher and improve operations at the school.
He has an MA from University College London in History and Linguistics and trained as a second language teacher at King’s College London. While he enjoys reading about 2nd language acquisition theory, the development of English as a Lingua Franca and Historical Linguistics, he is a very practical, hands on teacher and favours multi sensory and vocabulary based learning - in fact all aspects of language teaching methodology.
Elena Logara-Panteli Director Foreign Language Courses
Elena Logara-Panteli is a graduate of Linguistics from Birkbeck College, University of London. She is a trilingual speaker of Greek, German and English and loves teaching.
Raised in Greece, she moved with her family to Germany at the age of 12 where she finished her secondary and higher education, studying an art based degree. She came to England in 1998 and is fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach in all 3 countries. In England she qualified as an English as a Foreign Language teacher whilst studying Linguistics. In 1998 she started working as a Greek language teacher at one of north London’s largest community Greek schools. Her experience included teaching children Greek as a Second Language from Reception age to GCSE and enjoyed helping with the school theatre productions. She examined GCSE candidates for Edexcel as part of her duties.
Before co – founding Lexis in 2007, she worked as a private language tutor for 3 years teaching all levels and all ages. She is always on the lookout for new and engaging, as well as innovative, teaching materials; her study of art is both useful and relevant to this pursuit. At Lexis, she is Director of Foreign Language Courses and also heads the translation bureau.
