Conduct and Behaviour Policy for all Lexis Students

1. Standards of Behaviour

a. Our expected standards of behaviour and conduct are outlined in full in the Student Handbook.

b. All students are expected to behave in a polite, respectful and responsible manner at all times:

• on school premises
• during lessons and activities
• on school visits
• in accommodation arranged by the school

c. Students must treat staff, fellow students and the wider community with respect and must not engage in behaviour that could cause harm, distress or disruption.

2. Safeguarding and Behaviour

All students must behave in a way that supports a safe environment.

Any behaviour that:

• puts others at risk
• threatens safety
• breaches safeguarding expectations

will be treated as a serious concern and may result in disciplinary action.

Additional safeguarding procedures apply to students under the age of 18.

3. Misconduct and Disciplinary Action

Lexis reserves the right to take appropriate disciplinary action, including termination of a course, where behaviour is deemed unacceptable.

This may include serious or persistent misconduct such as:

• smoking, drinking alcohol or using illegal substances where prohibited
• damage to property
• theft
• abusive, threatening or disrespectful behaviour
• failure to follow health and safety procedures
• behaviour that disrupts the learning environment

Disciplinary action will be proportionate to the nature of the behaviour.

4. Attendance

Students are required to attend scheduled lessons and activities.

Persistent non-attendance (e.g. 10 consecutive days without valid reason) may result in disciplinary action, including termination of the course.

For students requiring visas, relevant authorities will be informed where required.

5. Fees and Course Termination

If a course is terminated due to disciplinary reasons:

• refunds will not normally be issued, in accordance with our terms and conditions
• any outstanding fees must be paid immediately

6. Liability and Personal Property

While Lexis takes reasonable care to provide a safe environment, we cannot accept responsibility for:

• loss or damage to personal belongings
• personal documents or travel documents

This applies to school premises, accommodation and organised activities, to the extent permitted by law.

7. Damage to Property

Students (or their parents/guardians if under 18) are responsible for the cost of any damage caused to:

• school property
• accommodation
• property during school activities
